Find a Class

We know how tricky it can be to keep up an active lifestyle and focus on your work, and how it can often feel like an impossible task to try and fit exercising in to your schedule as well as work full time. To tackle this, we've come up with 5 super easy ways for you to try and move a little more whilst youテャテつ「テδッテつソテつステδッテつソテつスre at work:

1. Take a walk

Working intensely at a desk or in an office all day is not only bad for your physical and mental health, but actually has a negative effect on the work you're producing. It is impossible to concentrate all day long, and adding a short walk into your afternoon around that 3pm mark or on your lunch means you get your blood pumping back around your body, helping to lose some calories as well as give you the headspace to return to your desk ready to work more efficiently!

2. Make the most of your lunch break

Here at Nouveau Dance & Fitness we offer a Fit & Healthy Workplace programme, where we bring the exercise to you! We can come along to your office and deliver a wide range of classes, from Body Tone to Boxercise, FitSteps to MetaFit, in short and snappy 30 minute bursts to fit in with your lunch break. Now there's no excuses about not having time to get to a class!

3.テつChange your workspace

Might seem trivial, but think about how your office or workspace is laid out and how you could make it more walking-friendly. Do you need to get up to go to the printer? Why not move the telephone out of reach, so that you get to stretch your legs every time someone calls? These may seem trivial, but even the simple action of getting up and walking around every 10 minutes or so can help reduce the effects of an otherwise sedimentary job.

4.テつ Move more to get into work

So this one might not technically take place in the workplace, but simple things like parking your car further away from where you work, getting off the bus a couple of stops earlier or even cycling to work (if you can) gives you a fantastic, active start to the day without taking up too much of your time.

5. Get active with your colleagues

We all know that getting fit is no fun when you do it by yourself, which is why we ensure each of our classes has such a friendly, community atmosphere! So, why not get your colleagues involved in your healthy mission? Whether it's a 30 day ab challenge, a jog together from the office after clocking off or a group of you heading to a lunchtime fitness class, getting active with other people is a great way to build friendships as well as improve your health! Nouveau can also help with group activities in your workplace place, and could even involve other local companies to incite a bit of friendly competition! We can offer a range of classes before or after work for you and your colleagues either in your workplace, at our Studio in Peterlee or in a local community space.

There you have it; 5 simple ways to be more active at work; now you have no excuses!
