5 WAYS TO BECOME A #COMMUNIFITTY OVERNIGHT!

Now, obviously it’s impossible to massively improve your fitness and start seeing results overnight (although we probably all wish it wasn’t!), and it takes regular hard work over a sustained period of time to really change your lifestyle; however, we have got 5 simple things you can do tonight and tomorrow morning to kick off your new healthy lifestyle and become a #CommuniFitty!

1.    No snacks before bedtime!

We all know the feeling; it gets to around 8 or 9pm, your evening meal seemed like a lifetime away and those packets of crisps or chocolate biscuits are calling...but exercise that willpower muscle and resist them! If you eat too late at night when your body is preparing itself for sleep, you aren’t giving it a chance to digest it properly or to work the calories off, which could lead to more weight gain in the long run! Try and eat as healthy and filling a meal as possible on the evening, and if you really are hungry late at night, make sure it’s a good snack, like fruit or nuts.


2.    Get some sleep

Sounds too easy, right? Getting enough sleep is vitally important to allow your body to recover from the day and prepare for the one ahead. The recommended amount of sleep for adults is 7-9 hours a night, but not enough of us are getting it. This can leave us lacking energy for the rest of the day, which definitely won’t motivate you to get exercising! Hard as it may be, try to avoid staring at a phone or laptop screen right before you sleep too, as this can make it harder to drift off.


3.    Set that alarm

So, you’ve gotten an early night and had a great sleep; it’s time to put that renewed energy to use and get moving. Exercising on a morning means that you don’t have the whole day to talk yourself out of it, and gets you feeling alert and ready for work. Setting that alarm even half an hour earlier and going for a quick jog or practicing some of those Pilates exercises you learnt in class is a great way to kick start your morning.

 
4.    Have a healthy drink to start your morning

One of the simplest changes to make to your morning is what you drink; try to avoid too much caffeine or sugary drinks and get plenty of water into your system. Drinking water in the morning has a number of amazing benefits, including speeding up your metabolism and helping your body function throughout the day. Alternatively, get the blender out and make yourself a nice fruity smoothie, or even try a mug of green tea to give you an energy boost!

 
5.    Eat a good breakfast

You’ve probably heard this a million times before, but eating breakfast really is crucial to getting your metabolism moving and provide your body with energy for the rest of the day. Skipping meals may seem like a good way to lose weight, but it will only have negative effects in the long run. Taking the time on a morning to prepare a good breakfast like yoghurt and muesli, poached eggs or wholemeal toast is great for getting you in a healthy frame of mind.


There you have it! 5 ways to make healthy changes to your lifestyle over tonight and tomorrow morning. These are, of course, just the first steps, and becoming a #CommuniFitty doesn’t happen instantaneously! But, keep that motivation and willpower up and you will hopefully see results in no time!
