Celebrating the achievements of Stride Children and Young People on International Youth Day!

In celebration of International Youth Day we wanted to share all the fantastic things our young dancers have been getting up to this Summer through ‘Stride’ at Nouveau Dance & Fitness.

The summer kicked off with with the young people being awarded £250 from Key Fund after pitching their ideas to a panel of judges in Murton. The award was spent on a professional make up kit and stage make up lessons in preparation for an end of year showcase titled ‘Gotta Dance’ which took place in July. The Gotta Dance showcase was a huge success and really demonstrated the commitment and dedication of the 50 young people involved.

Following on from Gotta Dance, the young people from Stride where then honoured to be asked to perform for the interval entertainment at the ‘Next Big Thing’ with Sun FM at Castle Dene Shopping Centre on Saturday the 1st August. The group of dancers performed a ten minute Musical Theatre medley to a receptive crowd in Peterlee Town Centre hoping to inspire more children and young people to get involved in dance. Their talents have not gone unnoticed and as a result have a whole host of exciting events coming up to show off their hard work and help inspire others including; Durham County Cricket Club and County Durham Community Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, a Sports Awards presentation with County Durham Sport, and and evening performance at the Sunderland Royalty Theatre.

Stride is dedicated to bringing fun, high quality performing arts and physical activity opportunities to children and young people across the North East and is inclusive to all ages, abilities and backgrounds. At Stride we aim to:
